Theobroma cacao – Cocoa Powder
This Cocoa powder is made from organic cocoa beans of the species Forastero Hispanola and is a delicious degreased cocoa powder. This cocoa powder contains only 10%-12% fat, about half of the normal amount and has no added sugar. Which makes it a healthy low-fat cocoa powder.
About Defatted Cocoa Powder
After harvesting the cacao, the fruits are opened and the fresh beans are removed. During fermentation, the flesh decreases. The fermented cacao beans are then dried, cleaned, first roasted, broken and cleaned again.
The crushed cacao beans are alkalineised, roasted, cooled and ground. The ground cacao beans are then pressed until the fat content is at the desired level creating this delicious cocoa powder.
The Benefits of Cocoa Powder
Cocoa powder contains several minerals including calcium, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. All of these minerals are found in greater quantities in cocoa powder than either cocoa butter or cocoa liquor. Cocoa solids also contain 230 mg of caffeine and 2057 mg of theobromine per 100g, which are mostly absent from the other components of the cacao bean.
